Hands began to rise, one by one, then in twos and threes – 15 precious souls!

August 15, 2025by BTL CommsBlog

It was an evening like no other in the Lwandeti region. The air was filled with excitement and a sense of sacred anticipation. After months, perhaps even years, of hearing whispers about a Jesus Film in their language, the Tachoni community of this area finally received the long-awaited news: The Jesus Film, translated into Tachoni, was coming to Lwandeti.

From the moment the announcement was made, the community stirred with joy and curiosity. “Could it be true? Jesus speaking Tachoni?” The idea alone was enough to stir the hearts of many. Word spread like wildfire, and as the day drew near, anxiety turned into celebration. For many, this wasn’t just another film. It was a historic moment where faith met language, and heaven touched home.

Screening of the Tachoni Jesus Film at the Lwandeti Region, Western Kenya

As the sun began to set on the day of the screening, the dusty roads of Lwandeti came alive. Children skipped along excitedly, elders walked in slowly but determined, mothers with babies strapped on their backs, and men pushed bicycles with chairs strapped to them. All headed to the church hall. The hunger to see Jesus speak their mother tongue drew people in from every corner.

You could see it in their eyes. Some were wide in awe, others welled with tears. The voices they had only read about in Scripture were now speaking in a tongue that carried the weight of their childhood, their memories, their hearts. The familiar biblical scenes suddenly felt personal. It was no longer a distant gospel. It was their gospel.

As the story of Christ unfolded, the atmosphere changed. Emotions ran high. Some quietly whispered prayers, others wept. The Spirit of God was tangibly present, planting seeds of transformation in hearts long thirsty for the Word in their language.

Then came the heavenly invitation.

“If you would like to give your life to Jesus, raise your hand.”

There was a pause. Then hands began to rise. One by one. Then in twos and threes. In total, 15 precious souls responded to the call of salvation that day. They stood, some trembling, others smiling through tears, and in one voice, they surrendered their lives to Christ.

That night, heaven rejoiced with Lwandeti!
